Here is the big three VR headsets and what do you think is better PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift or Project Scorpio. Let talk about Virtual Reality in general, VR is a software that generate realistic images, sounds and replicate 3D environments. Which creates sensory such as sight, touch, hearing and smell (maybe) in an artificial world. Virtual Reality puts you in a fantasy world that you can’t see or do in real life such as being a warrior in a MMO, relaxing on a beach or flying through space. Sometimes VR can have it downfalls such as seizure, dizziness, nausea and motion sickness use extreme caution while using any VR headset.
That’s out of the way, let talk about Project Scorpio which was announced at E3 2016 and scheduled to be released in 2017. Microsoft hyped this saying “most power console ever” and to be a main competitor to PlayStation VR (how ironic). Scorpio specs features eight-core AMD APU with 320 gigabytes of memory, 6 Teraflops of computing power and hardware for 4K gaming and VR. Phil Spencer stated that Scorpio is going to the growth of 4K gaming and scaling system will lowers the game resolution to maintain a consistent frame rate. I want to hear more about Project Scorpio in the future. Next up PlayStation VR (which is named Project Morpheus), Sony’s version of a VR gaming. PlayStation VR is also compatible with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Move & Camera. PlayStation VR specs features 5.7 inch OLED panel, with an RGB sub-pixel matrix resolution of 1080p, Processor box (which enables the social screen output), 9 positional LEDs for the PlayStation Camera (to track 360 head movement, you can also use a PS4 controller as well. Fun fact: there are two ways to play such as cooperative gameplay (you can four people play with you) and cinematic mode (players can view photos and video in a 360 degree angle). There are some games that PlayStation VR out right now and can’t wait to see more.
Lastly, Oculus Rift which is just a headset and started off a Kickstarter campaign and was successful. Oculus Rift works on your computer and it requirements graphic cards (Intel Core i5-4590, AMD Radeon 59 or Nvidia GeForce GTX 970), an HDMI 1.3 with three USB 3.0 ports and one 2.0 port. As for computers you must have Dell, Alienware and Asus. There are motion controller called the Oculus Touch (it could detect finger gestures made while holding the controllers), you can also use Xbox One controller (because of the partnership with Microsoft). As for the Oculus Rift headset it uses OLED panel (the panels have a fresh rate of 90hz) for having a resolution of 1080X1200, uses lenses that allow for a wide field of view and are adjustable by a dial on the bottom of the device. You can also have glasses on the Oculus Rift and 6 degree of freedom rational and positional tracking. So what do you think? Should you get these three VR system? Which one are you going to get.
